Enjoy the Ultimate 4th of July in Atlanta
Kick off the Morning at the AJC Peachtree Road Race
Your fun-filled day begins at the starting line of the AJC Peachtree Road Race! It’s the world’s largest 10k, which leads thousands of participants on a scenic journey from the Lenox Square Mall in Buckhead to Piedmont Park in Midtown. You’re welcome to run, walk, or cheer everyone on from the sidelines. Afterward, cool off and grab a well-deserved meal from a variety of restaurants near the finish line!
Local tip: Keep in mind that some roads may be closed to cars during the event.
Spend the Afternoon at a Museum
Soak up some culture after the race! There are several must-see museums in the area, allowing you to enjoy a leisurely afternoon before the celebrations in the evening. The Atlanta History Center and the Center for Civil and Human Rights are both excellent options, especially on a day that we honor American history. You can also mix things up and see what’s on exhibit at the High Museum of Art as well as the Museum of Design Atlanta.
Enjoy Cocktails in the Garden
Make sure you don’t lose track of time at our local museums. (It’s easy to get lost in the fascinating displays!) Cocktails in the Garden starts at 5:30 p.m. with live music, games, and refreshing beverages at the Atlanta Botanical Garden. Of course, there’s plenty of beautiful flowers to see as well!
Attend Red, White & Brew
After a stroll through the gardens, head over to the Georgia Aquarium for their annual 4th of July event at 7:00 p.m. Red, White & Brew is one of their signature celebrations, featuring a BBQ dinner by Wolfgang Puck Catering, live music, and unlimited beer samples. Hundreds of aquatic species are on the guest list this year, too! The event takes place in the Oceans Ballroom, where you can see whales, manta rays, sharks, and more.
View the Fireworks
At the end of the night, look upward as the night sky erupts with colorful fireworks! One of the biggest displays takes place at Centennial Olympic Park in Downtown Atlanta. If you’re attending the Red, White & Brew event, you can see it from the Georgia Aquarium parking garage! Otherwise, you’re welcome to grab a prime viewing spot in the area and enjoy the show.
