A quick getaway to Atlanta is a wonderful way to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
Whether you are commemorating the event on one of the shoulder weekends or observing the day on February 14, there are lots of opportunities to make your vacation memorable. We have found four unique ideas for romance in Atlanta. This list will bring you outside of the typical Valentine’s date of roses and a fancy dinner. The touring production of the Broadway hit is at the Fox Theater from January 30 until February 25.
- Furlough’s Paradise is the winner of the Alliance/Kendeda National Graduate Playwrighting Competition. With themes of grief, home, love, and kinship, this play is for the couple who likes to delve into a deep conversation about what they saw together. The play will be at the Alliance Theater’s Hertz Stage from January 31 until March 3.
- Love Bites: Valentine’s Schmalintines Burlesque Show applauds the imperfections of love. This show is for the couple who loves the art of the tease. It features an award-winning burlesque ensemble and dance troupe and can be found at Metropolitan Studios on February 9.
- Coco Chanel: The Life of a Fashion Icon is a full-length narrative ballet. Belgian-Colombian choreographer Annabelle Lopez Ochoa has created a unique juxtaposition of ballet and fashion with an almost “mythical rags-to-riches story.” The Atlanta Ballet is thrilled to present the premiere of this show at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre from February 9 until February 17.
- Andrea Bocelli’s 2024 Valentine’s Tour is making a stop in nearby Duluth. The world-renowned tenor will be performing with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Steven Mercurio. You can find the show at the Gas South Arena on February 17.
- Concertare: An Evening of Baroque Concertos will feature music by Bach, Vivaldi, and more. The budget-friendly option requests a $20 donation to enjoy the concert. Do not let the cost fool you, the February 17 concert at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church is sure to be a crowd pleaser.
- Try some new beers or wines together. The best part about trying new drinks is buying a six-pack or bottle to enjoy together at a later date. Just one sip will bring you back to all the fun you had together in Atlanta.
- The Atlanta Winter Beer Fest boasts over 150 beers, ciders, meads, and seltzers. It is a full afternoon of live music, a DJ, drink samples, and food. Use your souvenir cup when you enjoy a Georgia beer at home. You will find the event at Guardian Works on February 10. Tickets are on sale now.
- Brookhaven Wines has complimentary wine tastings on Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons. They are also hosting a ticketed, seated Wine Tasting Basics event on February 8. - The Fernbank Museum of Natural History transforms the 10-acre natural habitat behind the museum into an immersive nighttime experience called WildWoods AGLOW. There are glowing displays and original music compositions. Visitors will see the native flora and fauna with new eyes as they journey through the exhibit. Ticket holders can also view the Fungi: Web of Life Giant Screen Film, wander through select exhibits, and unwind in the AGLOW lounge inside the museum. The family-friendly exhibit is available every weekend in February. An adult-only experience is scheduled for February 9 as a Fernbank After Dark 21+ evening. Fernbank After Dark features live music, full bars, and tapas menus.
- The Illuminarium presents a 360-degree immersive show with photo opportunities and interactive environments. The current afterhours experience is Space After Dark. Do not just dream upon the stars together, sip cocktails in the cosmos. The 21+ event engages visitors in a virtual world where anything may be possible.
- The High Museum of Art stays open late on the first, second, and third Friday of every month. Find your inner Zen together on Friday, February 9 during Oasis at the High. Guests can practice yoga, create art, and enjoy wine or non-alcoholic beverages. The museum comes alive with music on February 16 for Friday Jazz.
